Hi. If you want to buy a new car, use a buying service. AAA is a great source. It is free for members. If you want a used car. Be sure to buy a certified used car. They may cost more, but it is worth it. Use the BBB to see who is a good dealer.

Research the car Check the car all over Look for body shop work Run the VIN on CarFax Have a mechanic check it over Test drive it for a few hrs, many speeds
Best rule to get a good car...
Never buy on a whim or cause its ''cool looking''

make sure that it is a good make & model, another tip is to get one that is made on a wednesday. (you can find that out by the code that is placed on the dash & u can see it from outside the car) Reason being is that when staff come back to work on a monday they do not want to be there so they do a half assed job on making cars & by the time that Friday comes along they all want to go home so they rush all of there jobs, but wednesday is right in the middle so they r used to being at work, & yet there week is half over. So buy a car that is made on a Wed. if not wed go for a tues or thurs.
Good Luck Happy car hunting!!!!

Shopping with a guy. l know it sounds lame but when l have shopped for cars by myself l have left the lot feeling stupid. Also, do u research. You can go to the website of the companies u want to buy u car from. Print out the info on that car & then go to the websites of car makers with similar cars. Making an informed choice is much better than making a choice. Also, go with ur gut. It can tell u so much, especially if u r buying a new to u car but not new new car.

New car: Read reviews Used car: Bring a stethescope, listen for a moment to different spots on the idling engine - strange little noises mean strange little things are occuring inside (tapping valves, strange harmonic vibrations, etc)

There is neither trickery nor magic in getting a good car.
It is all DATA about the manufacturer is ENGINEERING & quality control. that is what u need to make ur decision.
Put on a pair of dark sunglasses (at least the size that that late Jackie Kennedy Onassis wore) & a large hat so u r incognito. Go to ur friendly local library. Once inside, take off the huge hat & ridiculous sunglasses & ask the librarian for the ''Consumer Reports annual summary,'' which is a paperback book. In this book is a large section on automobiles with a graph for each one. For the last several model years there will be ''reliability dots'' for about a dozen major mechanical characteristics of automobiles. Look at these carefully, verycarefully.
You want to know what the most reliable automobiles r in the entire world --and there they are.
The trick to getting a good car is to ONLY CONSIDER THOSE WITH A HISTORY OF BEING EXCEPTIONALLY RELIABLE.
And those r gonna be Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Izusu, Suzuki, Mazda & some Kia & Hyundai vehicles.
The little, basic, 2-wheel-drive, Toyota Tacoma pickup truck (What a cute truck for you! You could play tomboy!) is the most reliable vehicle built anywhere in the world by anyone at any price --gawd, what a bargain!
For getting a good car, ''do ur homework'' --actually just look it up, it is been done & graphed for u already.

There is none. All cars are good when there are no troubles.

there is no trick,,it,s called good common sense,,when u go out to buy a car don,t buy what someone tell,s u to buy,,get what u want,,but check it out good, take someone with u that know,s about car,s,and ask a lot of question,s,,you can learn a lot by listening to the answer,s u here,,look around too,,do not get in a hurry,,most people get burned because they get in a hurry,,or see something,,and there afraid that someone is going to beat them to it,,again,,use common sense, this l guess is the trick,,hope this help,s some.
