l needed to rent a car and did not have a credit card.A friend was able to help me and supplied her card for the deposit.While l was on the way home, l accidently rear ended a SUV.The insurance information was exchanged along with my drivers license number.He reported it to his insurance company and so did the rental company.Anyway, my friend got charged for the damage (the car was totaled with front end damage and it was only a small bump).The question is - will this get reported on the license and if so, whos - hers or mine.Since l was driving, l would assume it would be mine if anyones.Since the police were not involved, who would report this?

It should not go on anyones driving record because the police were not involved. The only people that can change driving records are the police department and since they were not involved it wo not show up on anyones record.

Since the police were not involved does not mean that its not reported to the state, l am no way means of a legal advisor, But just be wary of the laws of that govern ur state, in NY any damage done estimated above 1000.00 must have a form filed out & filed with the state. l only state this because it was handled thru one a rental company & two insurance companies r involved. l believe this would go against the driver, however the person with the insurance will be taking the penalties as far as insurance increases.
