l have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. It is a great car, except this year it has been delaying the shift from 2nd to third, and then shifting kinda rough at the last second.Since l purchased this car used, it does not have a warrenty. What could be causing this problem? It does not do this all the time, and it helped when l got the transmission fluid changed at 30,000 miles for about a week. After the week was up, it went back to its old ways. Is my transmission going to go out soon?

it sounds like the bands inside your transmission may be slipping. Automatics can be very expensive to fix.

You bought a Hundai, lol.
Well that would be the problem.

potentially. Unfortuantly, any problem with auto transmissions are expensive. It could be something simple or something complex, but either way, you will have to have someone look at it and that is where they will get you. Tell them to check the ECU and from there you can decide what you want to do

You are still covered under the 5yr/60k mile warranty bumper to bumper(if you bought it used), and if you bought it new (original owner) the 10yr/100,000 mile power train will cover any transmission problems so either way you should be covered just take it your local dealer you may have to pay for diagnostic but if they find it is a covered problem it should not cost you anything.
