l drove through a flooded road and after,it started chuckin like l was in da wrong gear den it cut out.it wouldnt start but l left it for 30mins and it started,everything was fine for two days then it happened again it cut out while l was driving it and it hasnt started since l have changed the distributor cap and plug leads as a mechanic told me l damaged them while l drove through the flooded road anyway they are new its not a batt prob as l have lights on da dash and radio and headlights work.there is petrol in it.oh it a hyundai sonata 1.8L 1997 model.l cant figure it out why it wont start it trys to when u turn da key so its not the starter motor either. please could some one help or just tell me if my engine is seized so l can just scrap da car and move on thanks

you,ll need to let it dry out some more before you can find the problem with it,there was a lot of things that got we on it,the starter for one thing might have to be replaced also,it was not made to drive in water,the solenoid switch that mounts on the starter could be bad,just start drying parts ,is all you can do there is no miracle cure for what happened to that one,good luck on it.

If it ran for 2 days, then obviously u did not damage it when u ran through the flooded road. You should probably have changed ur oil, but l doubt that is really the problem.

Just treat it like an engine that wo not start. It needs to turn when the starter motor is running. When it turns, it should have sparks at the spark plugs & fuel pressure. The fuel injectors should squirt as commanded by the computer.

Get all that working & then report back.

actually..if u have driven the car thru a flooded road where the water level was above the bonnet or sumthing similar then u r in big trouble..ur carburator may be flooded or choked..please tell ur mechanic to check the carburator.the problem must lie there..
