Do they think the consumer is stupid enough to think they are better than the ''name brands'' of cars.
Ok, BMW is one thing.....BUT LEXUS AND ACURA....THE MOST RELIABLE CARS OUT THERE?

Well. l have a 98' Elantra and my friend has a 2002 5 series BMW. We have about the same amount of miles (120k), but l am able to drive mine more lately because his is constantly in the shop. l guess the little blue and white logo must be more costly to produce than the chrome circle H.

Exactly, they want the consumer to actually think & compare cars instead of just assuming that reputation equals reality. Case in point is Mercedes Benz maker of some pricy cars that ranked dead last #36 in reliability in the most recent Consumer Reports, yet people still think of them for what they were in 80's/90's. Hyundai is just the opposite, they were below standard in the 80's/90 is & now r at the front of the class. So, the commercials r just to inform the public that their r other options & better cars for ur money available.

Good points so far by the 1st 2 posters. Hyundai can make these comparisons because they have the cars, suv is & minivans to back it up. The new Azera is a wonderful car that beats it competitors in the most important area for the average consumer.price, while matching the afore mentioned Acura/Lexus in quality & BMW in performance. There is a reason Hyundai outsells BMW, Acura, Lexus, Mercedes, etc. Yes, Hyundai is not quite luxury class just yet, but they build great cars that people want & the average person can afford. Simple fact, ur dollar goes further on a Hyundai then any of those overpriced brands they compare themselves to. The reliability has become top notch since new management took over in 2000 & they stopped using Mitsubishi crap components.
Just wait until the new Genesis car comes out in 2008, u wetting yourself as it smacks the 7-series, GS430, & RL to the curb.

they are working their way up. and they advertise awards that they won that they didnt. and btw, name brands arent everything. benz are terrible cars. ur just buyin the brand.

its a marketing strategy and they have the awards to back it up, so why not?

the question is the most bang for the buck. is the bmw worth two or three times the hyundai? l believe that they have greatly improved their quality. would l rather win a lexus than a hyundai, probably. but l might be surprised how good hyun. has become.

Hey dude read the latest motor trend issue. The Hyundai Veracruz beat the Lexus Rx350 in a comparison test. sounds crazy huh, but true, and if Hyundai is bold enough to put up a commercial like it is a pretty Strong move.

Keep in mind here - Hyundai is showing a sense of humour in these ads. The ''you can pay someone to park it for you'' joke demonstrates that. They know nobody who is looking at a Lexus LS460 is comparing it to an Azera - that is absurd. But - they're trying to appeal to the buyer that is looking at the 30K sedan to start with and saying you can have near Lexus room/luxury for loaded Accord/Camry price.

hyundai is obviously smoking crack. l would rather have a ten year old bmw of any kind than any brand new hyundai.

but then again l own 3 bmws so go figure
