l may be interested in buying a hyundai tiburon.what are some major issues that could go wrong in the future with this car.

I'd say check out Consumer reports.com and read the history of the Tiburon.they have pretty good info on vehicles.

In my opinion, Hyundai has come a long way since the 1980's. and if l could I'd by a new Hyundai as for the Tiburon l understand the v6 is nice and the four cylinder is okay. it looks pretty good too!.

first check it over for obvious defects [paint repairs worn tires bad exhaust engine noise] then by ur trusted mechanic for a complete inspection. [many of these cars went to people who could not or would not maintain them [any Hyundai with service records is extremely rare.] all this being said they seem to hold up pretty well l would avoid a automatic trans [but l tend to avoid automatics anyway] the rest of the car has proven solid, easy to work on & yes reliable [provided u find a well cared for example to begin with] at this point it will be due for timing belt service, DO NOT CHEAP THIS JOB OUT. put new tensioner & idler pulleys, hand grenade [gas spring] & water pump at the same time a failure here will prove catastrophic to ur wallet & probably send the car to the bone-yard

The 2003 Hyundai Tiburon has excellent styling. A definite improvement over the intro model.

Of course, the first complaint of any Hyundai, is the use of ultra thin body panels. Even harsh looks can be enough to cause a ding. Sadly most Hyundai owners r well accustomed to the large collections of dings their cars accumulate from carelessly flung doors in parking lots.

The only bit of bad news regarding the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon that I've ever seen, is that there is a high instance of premature clutch & flywheel assembly failure on the standard transmission models.

If this does not deter u from buying a 2003 tiburon, then l suggest the V6 GT. And read up on any factory recalls regarding the drive train before u commit.

l have a 2001 Tiby with 114 K miles and no major probs and no dings.

Sunroof cover, but l think that they have that fixed, if you purchase a used one make sure they have it carproofed. Go to newtiburon.com and you will find out what is going on with the Tibs. l have 2006 Tuscani for about a year now and nothing so far.

just remember its build cheap and will not last as long as a good car

on my second one now, love them. l would buy another in a heartbeat, BUT, having said that, rather than tell u all the cool things about it, ill be up front & tell u about some of the known issues.really nothing bad, but then youll know what ur getting into.

First & foremost.those damn headlights. keep ur car out of the sun, these things have a TERRIBLE clear coat on them that will first start yellowig then start bubbling/turning gunky. it doesnt look terrible, at worst itll drive u up the wall while manually washing the car, other than that, no worries.

The clutches arent very good..ok, they suck. not bad quality per say, bad feel. You can spend 5 minutes under the hood & disable the slave cylinder & make everything better, but if u dont ''it feels like im learning a clutch from a different car everytime l go for a drive''. frustrating at most.

sunroof stall. Ive had two 2003 is & havent had this problem, but apparently 04 is & above have a problem with the sun roof stalling/freezing/not working. there r some ''mods'' u can do to fix this, but other than that u kinda lose on this one..at least it doesnt leak though (your obviously buying used, just check it out before u buy)

turn signal. had this happen on my first one, left turn signal just randomly turned on & stayed lite, didnt blink, was just a solid light..5 minute wiring fix cleared it right up.

the sub (V6) comes with a 10' sub in the trunk, but the factory (dunno if on accident or what) wired the thing incorrectly & it is really weak. quick re-wire will get the thing playin how its supposed to (which in these cars, which r great acoustically, sounds great)

weak ebrake, u can pull it full force at 40mph & barely notice anything...but unless u life/park in san francisco, who cares

aftermarket parts r really expensive

weak engine, the V6 is small (2.7) & weak
BUT
(and now onto the fun stuff)
these things have alot of potential for power (in NY someone claims to have hit over 400hp on stock block)

they r a blast to drive

they handle really well

they look great

not everyone & there mother has one..ITS NOT A MUSTANG!!!!!

(and on ur model year u can run the V6 headers with no Cat & bypass the rear 02 is by tying them down to the firewall & not throw a CEL, thank u hyundai for that little oversight heh)
