about every 2 weeks in the car. Also smoke seems to be always coming from the tailpipe. A friend of mine suggested that it may have something to do with the rings in the motor? That the oil was leaking through there and getting on the engine. No clue for sure what that all means.Any suggestions of what it might be?

how many miles on this car? did it happen suddenly? if its an old car, maybe its saying you need a replacement.

l wouldnt invest any money. you can buy another car for what it takes to do a engine job on a car nowadays.

Its cheaper to buy oil also, remember that too.

if it is smoking from the tail pipe a lot ,and your having to add that much oil to it,it probably is the engine going bad in it,it could have got hot or something and blown a head gasket also, you,ll have to keep an eye on it though, and not let it get real low on oil you need to take it to a shop, and have them look it over for you,and see what they say about it,good luck with it.

Sounds like your car may have high mileage and the engine is beginning to show signs of wear. Have the engine oil and filter changed and ask for a heavier grade of oil, possibly even an additive could be added to the oil to reduce friction, like STP.

If you have done your oil changes every 3000 miles and the car has under 100,000 miles the powertrain is still covered by your warranty. Take it in to your dealer and have them diagnose the problem. Your dealer may also provide a loaner for the duration of the repairs.
Hyundai introduced this warranty in 1998 or 1999 so your car is covered.

10/100 warranty. l have replaced alot of valve seals on these.Do not see much ring problems, hope you kept your maintenance records to show regular oil changes.
