I've been doing a lot of research. Most Hyundai owners do not keep their cars long enough to benefit from the 10 year/100k mile limited powertrain warranty, which if you read the fine print states, ''...protection covers most engine & transaxle components,'' key word most. Hyundai knows that owners do not keep their cars that long and that is the reason the warranty is non-transferable.
Also I've been reading about a lot of owners complaining how the dealers rip you off when you need to fix something under the warranty. For example, if you need to have a small item replaced under warranty, they will charge you $500 for an oil change and find something that is not covered under warranty like brake pads and rotors and charge you another $800+ for that to make up for the warranty item as reported by one owner. And the list goes on. So, again l ask, is the Hyundai warranty really that good?

The warranty offered by Hyundai covers the same components that any other manufacturer would cover & it is covered for 10/100. All dealers will rip u off if u r not careful, that is why it pays to be an informed consumer. If u ever go into a dealership & they charge u $500 for an oil change u need to contact the police. Most, dare l say all, repair shops have a manual they use to determine the labor/materials/time to complete a task & it is fairly uniform throughout the industry.

on average a normal car will gain 12,000 miles a year. now days most cars will do 300 thousnad miles & some reaching nearly 500 thousand. a car make like hyundai isnt that great but their cars will reach 100k. therefore they r just pretty much saying here u buy this car with 4 free wheells! this is because every car will give u that much mileage. considering most cars will be done 100k miles before 10 years they r just dragging u in. dont get hooked by it because it pretty much nothing. the warrenty is good & vaild but it is totally unessessary as a make like volvo in some cases will give u a 300k warrenty, my dad is 84 & he has it on his s60 which isnt even top of the range car. but anywyay that warrenty means nothing, dont get hooked by it.

As a Hyundai owner, l can say that most people probably will not benefit from the powertrain warranty. The engine & transmission of Hyundais r pretty good but like all cars do require that u perform the required maintenance diligently. With a Hyundai, what will get u eventually is failure of such components such as the alternator, power steering pumps, etc. These items r NOT covered by the 10yr/100000mi warranty. l had a 2000 Sonata that had no problems within the 60000mi bumper to bumper warranty period but the alternator failed at approx 61000mi. Go figure. Luckily l had an extended warranty & did not have to pay for anything. The problem with going to the dealer with ur Hyundai for warranty work is that the dealer is usually reluctant to perform work under warranty & of course will try to dupe unsuspecting or uninformed customers into believing that the problem with their car is not covered by the warranty. They do this because they do not make as much money performing warranty repairs as they do performing regular repairs. For example, if l had to pay for the new alternator in my 2000 Sonata l would have had to pay approx $400.00 for the alternator & then $85.00/hour for installation of the part. Because it was under warranty, the alternator was $325.00 & labor was less than $60.00/hour. This is what Hyundai Motor America paid for that warranty service on my car. Note then that the dealer made no profit on the parts & they made less money in labor. Also Hyundai calculates from their engineers how long it takes for installation of the part & so will pay for only a specified period of time. If the technician takes longer than the time specified by Hyundai, the dealer still has to pay their technician for whatever time they put into the repairs. l would imagine that the same would hold true for a transmission rebuild. If the repairs r not covered under warranty then the dealer makes money on all the parts & makes more money due to the higher labor rate. The problem for Hyundai dealers is that the warranty is so expansive in the time frame that is covered that dealer profitability is lowered & therefore the dealer will try their best to find loopholes in the warranty agreement so that they can make more money for repairs. As far as the dealers charging extra for regular maintenance to make up for the costs of warranty losses l have no doubt that such things do occur. l perform all my maintenance at a private shop where they have all maintenance records stored on a computer. Every oil change, oil filter, transmission flush, radiator flush, etc is all documented. l only go to the dealer when something is wrong with the car. Therefore they cannot charge me for any recommended maintenance while they r performing the repairs. If they tell me that my brakes will need replacing or my rotors r warped, l will simply tell them that l will do the repairs at a private shop. It is of course the customer is prerogative. In the end It all comes down to u being a smart & responsible person when it comes to ur car & the warranty.
On an unrelated sublect: l wonder what Chrysler dealers r going to do now. Lifetime powertrain warranty!

Hyundai warranty is good.. what you are stating is a dealer issue, not warranty issue. The dealer itself is trying to rip you off and that kind of action is with a lot of dealers. l will not go to the Chevy dealer (and that is a Chevy l am talking about) in my town because of the same issues and l can no longer trust them. When people find this kind a action from their dealer, then it is time to find another dealer.

l feel l have to defend myself. Not all dealers will try & rip u off. Now l am not saying that some wo not try & rip u off but not all of them will.
As for u question, l have had no problems with the Hyundai warranty. The 10/100 is actually an excellent warranty. l have had several cases where the powertrain warranty covered all of the repairs & the customer was not out any money.
When it says that it will cover ''most'' powertrain items, it is meaning as long as the customer has not neglected the vehicle or abused the vehicle.
All of my customers who come in for any repair get a full inspection with that repair. If we see anything that needs attention l will inform my customer & also l will physically show them the problem. Most places will not do that. l do it to show my customer that l am not trying to pry into their wallet, but instead trying to keep them & their family safe on the road. You just really have to be careful of where u r taking the vehicle. l strongly suggest that u ask around about a place before u take ur vehicle there.
But to answer ur question, yes the warranty is great & does come in handy.

l do not know about you, but I've never bought a car based on it is warranty & extended warranties can be bought for any used car just about. l bought a used Nissan Quest & extended warranty for it, but have never used the warranty in 4 years. I've seen 2 people in the last 6 months complain about a warranty problem with their Hyundai dealer on here, but they were both able to resolve their issue (1 dummy sold his car, the other simply went to another dealer). Most people will never have to use their new car warranty & there is no such thing as a $500 oil change unless u own a Lamborghini. Most people do not keep any brand of car that long, Hyundai or Honda so its good to see that Hyundai is resale value has surpassed that of American brands even if it still trails the big 2 Japanese brands. l think people buy Hyundai is because they know they r getting a great looking/driving car with alot of features & quality for the same price as an American brand & way less then European garbage.

l have 124,000 miles on my 2001 Tiburon, and used the warranty once, for a paint issue. Which was fixed without any probs.
My local Hyundai service dept is awesome, l even got a few thing done with ''NO'' charge so l am very pleased so far.
So to answer your question, YES.
