In the manual it says you can hook mp3 players up to it, but it does not say where, and l can not find where you can hook it up.

even though the Manuel says it has one, perhaps your parents car doesn't. l think if you can not find it, really, it might not be there. the Manuel is are generic, not made for every single cars specialty or whatever. you could also try calling the manufacture

The only Sonata to have the jack for an MP3 player is the new 2009. If they do have the 2009 then it is located in the center console next to the USB port.

The 2006-07-08 Sonata will play CD is downloaded in the mp3 format.

You may have to resort to broadcasting the signal over one of those units designed to use the FM bandwidth & relying on ur radio to pick up the signal, since as pointed out only the new models have the jack. It was a grave oversight by Hyundai but they obviously had to cut corners somehwere. You will notice the Sonata does not have fold back side view mirrors & there is not an exterior key entry on the passenger side. However, l do like the windshield antenna they provide since it keeps the lines of the car cleaner. If u google >>147 mph Sonata<< u will learn about the guy who was clocked going that speed in his rented rocket.

u may have misread the information in the manual somewhere. the english or ''engrish'' may be bad, l for one would be the one to know. the stereo has an in-dash cd player or changer, but its also capable of playing or ''reading'' certain discs that most other stereo cd players found in other cars can not. audio CDs recorded in mp3 format can be played on ur parents' car without a problem. my car, which doesnt come with this feature provided that it is an older model, would not ''accept'' any homemade mp3 CDs of my own that l burned from my computer into its slot, & so it would spit it back out displaying an ''error'' message. some better cars can even play audio Cds in WMA (windows media audio) format, im not sure if yours does though. anyhow, hope this clears up ur question.
