In this car you have to depress the clutch before the ignition system will engage the starter motor and actually start the car.Recently l have had to depress the clutch harder and harder.l now have to push it as hard as possible before it will start.l am assuming that l soon will be unable to start my car at all.HELP!l do not mind being stranded at home but being stranded at work would be a nightmare come true!What should l do?Can l fix myself?Is this fault common?Is it expensive?

Sounds like your clutch-operated neutral safety switch is going bad or needs adjusting..this switch prevents the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is depressed. Have it checked out before it goes bad completely. It is usually mounted right by the clutch pedal.

Depending on what model that you have, they were known for the pressure to go out. If need excessive pressure to get the pedal to the floor, it is neither hydraulic nor electrical. I'd look to the pressure plate assembly or the clutch springs.
