l have an 2007 Hyundai Sonata. l have been burning oil since l got it, and at first l thought it was normal, that new cars burn oil faster. But then l went to Midas to get an oil change and they said legally they cant touch it because they dont wanna be liable bc my car is burning oil. There are no leaks or antyhign like that.

Side note to my stupidity, l was adding a thing of oil every 2-3 weeks....so yeah, l honestly do not know crap about cars. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow but any heads up knowledge would be great so l can be prepared...worst part is they wont give me a loaner while they do the work, so I've got to pay for a rental. Total BS.
The exact question is....does anyone have any idea what theissue could be? l dont wanna go there without any idea and get pushed around....so if l have some sort of idea, l may look like l know what i'm talking about. I've had terrible issues with the dealership so far, so Im hoping to go in with some sort of knowledge.
cjgt2- there is not any noticable smoke coming from the pipes out of the ordinary. Midas checked the car and said there was no leaks and they said l was burning oil because there was no way that my car, with having only 12k miles on it should be completely out of oil unless there was a leak. Since there was no leak, they said it had to be burning the oil. The only reason this hasnt been taken care of sooner is because I am clueless about cars but thought for some reason new cars burn oil faster. Well, that is not accurate and when I am putting a quart of oil in the car every 3 weeks, there really has to be some sort of issue. l just dont know jack about cars. In December l had a similar issue with oil problems in the car and Hyundai was suppose to fix it then, I am just starting to wonder if they ever really did.

More detail would be helpful.
Is there smoke coming out the tail pipe? If so what color?
Who said there were no leaks?
How did Midas know it was burning oil?

Not doubting u but r u saying u had this problem for over a year but showed no symptoms? How did u know it was burning oil?

Most dealers either have a 6 month/6000 mile or 12/12,000 warranty on service done. l think ur best bet is to go back to the same dealer (your work invoice from Dec in hand) & tell them the problem has reoccurred or u have another engine issue. Stress that u have a ''reoccurring'' problem & Midus reaffirmed ur fears of it, no good shop wants to hear that.
Your lucky the engine did not seize up but usually if ur burning that much oil there would be some symptoms. Matter of fact, it sounds like a bad oil drain plug.
Lemon Laws r different from state to state. You may want to look into it if u have this problem continues
Good Luck!
